Rice Energy hosts community appreciation day

Rice Energy will host its sixth annual Marcellus Mania Community Appreciation Day from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Greene County Fairgrounds.

The event, which celebrates the result of a three-month-long fundraising effort by Rice Energy, will open with a short ceremony honoring local volunteer fire departments that serve the company’s operating footprint in Washington and Greene counties in Pennsylvania and Belmont and Monroe counties in Ohio. Music, games, prizes, and other family-friendly activities for will follow.

In its first five years, Rice raised more than $1.7 million for first responders in Southwestern Pennsylvania and southeastern Ohio.

This year’s fundraising total will be revealed Saturday at noon, when 43 first responder organizations receive donations from the company.
