Gas prices nosedive in Washington

The plummet continues. Gasoline prices have dropped another 6.2 cents across Western Pennsylvania.
The average cost of a gallon of unleaded self-serve nosedived to $2.610 this week, from $2.672 a week ago, according to a report Monday from AAA East Central.
This is the 10th consecutive week the cost has dropped across the region, totaling 52.6 cents. The new average also is 16.4 cents below the price of a year ago.
Washington’s pricing dropped precipitously this week, to $2.635 – 9.9 cents cheaper than a week ago ($2.734). But after four consecutive weeks of modest drops that placed Washington among the more expensive areas in the region to gas up, its average dropped to 13th among 22 Western Pennsylvania cities and towns listed by AAA.
New Castle has the lowest average ($2.391); Warren ($2.725) and Brookville ($2.723) the highest.
Pennsylvania’s average dropped by six cents to $2.61, while the nationwide figure fell nine more cents to $2.37 – the lowest this year, and two cents cheaper than at this time in 2017.
Gasoline stocks declined by 1.9 million barrels in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region, which includes Pennsylvania. They are at 59 million.
