Pa. slot machine revenue up in Dec.; down for 2017
Slot machine revenue at the state’s 12 casinos rose 1.2 percent in December, but was down 1 percent for 2017, according to the latest figures from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
According to a news release, the PGCB said Wednesday gross terminal revenue at The Meadows Casino in December was $16,581,165, down 3.7 percent from the $17,218,203 wagered in December 2016.
Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino saw slots revenue jump 5.85 percent last month, moving to $23,068,919, from $21,793,193 taken in December of a year ago.
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Farmington saw a 5.66 percent increase to $2,161,417 from the 2,045,730 it collected in December 2016.
The PGCB on Wednesday also reported that slot machine revenue for calendar year 2017 was $2,336,212,902, the seventh consecutive year in which calendar year revenue has topped $2.3 billion. The board said that amount was approximately 1 percent less than slot revenue in calendar year 2016.
Tax revenue generated from slot machine gaming in 2017 was $1,188,689,755, which PGCB said was used for property tax reduction to Pennsylvania homeowners, strengthening the commonwealth’s horse racing industry, and funding economic development projects.
For the calendar year, The Meadows Casino saw slots revenue fall 3.31 percent to $214,289,737 in 2017, from $221,620,054 it recorded for 2016.
Rivers Casino saw a 1.77 percent increase to $269,751,527, while Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin experienced a 2.79 percent rise to $30,145,146.
The average combined number of slot machines operating daily was 25,849 in December of 2017 compared to 26,074 in December of 2016.
