Gas prices drop in Washington, Western Pennsylvania

After three consecutive weekly increases, the average price of a gallon of unleaded self-serve gasoline dipped one cent in Western Pennsylvania. The cost is $3.118, down from $3.128, according to a report Monday from AAA East Central.
That figure is 29.9 cents higher than it was a year ago, at $2.819.
Washington’s dropped 1.2 cents to $3.080, which is 3.8 cents below the regional average. The average price nationally is $2.85, the same as the previous two weeks.
Prices across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region are cheaper this week. Gasoline inventories dropped by 1 million gallons, according to the Energy Information Administration, but remain at a robust 65.8 million barrels.
Washington’s price is the sixth-lowest average among 22 Western Pennsylvania cities and towns listed by AAA. Altoona ($3.012) and New Castle ($3.014) have the lowest figures. Uniontown ($3.046) is fourth for the second week in a row. Brookville ($3.236) has the highest average.
