I hope your summer is going well. It seems like it goes by so fast!

Things are busy in Canonsburg. There is a lot of work being done in our town. Everywhere you go there is some kind of road construction. We must look at this as positive for all.

The PennDOT work in the area of Morganza and Weavertown roads is moving along well. With all the changes to the road and traffic lights, we should see a big improvement for drivers. Utility companies are working all over town replacing gas, water and sewer lines. This is a plus for the town and our residents. Not only will the lines be new, but the streets will be paved. The borough and those companies are working at keeping you notified of street closings or shut off while work is being done.

We also have some new developments being proposed:

1. Canonsburg will be getting a new building at 100 S. Central Ave. Washington Health System is moving ahead with plans to construct a medical clinic and out-patient facility. The planning commission approved plans at their Aug. 3 meeting. This is to be office space for the Family Medicine Group and a state-of -the-art designed building. We are looking forward to when all approvals are done for work to start soon.

2. The owners of Townview Health and Rehabilitation, formerly Canonsburg Hospital, are working on converting the former school of nursing building into apartment units.

There are at least two other developments in the works now that should be ready to announce in the next issue of this magazine.

Town Park is another busy place. We are glad to have a park board that is all volunteer doing so much to help us keep the park in great shape. We on council are glad to work hand-in-hand with them to keep positive changes coming to our park. The new multi -purpose court not only looks great, but is being used constantly.

Coming soon

Dine Around the Pool is Sept. 9. Tickets are on sale now.

The Pennsylvanian Bavarian Oktoberfest is Sept. 15-17. It’s sponsored by the Greater Canonsburg Chamber of Commerce. Please take time to stop and enjoy the food and entertainment.

There is a lot going on and I hope this helps keep you aware. We have the best employees in all departments working to serve you.
