Former manager Bob Kipp dies
Former Canonsburg Borough Manager Bob Kipp has died.
Kipp was borough manager for Heidelberg at the time of his death.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Kipp died early in January at his home in the North Hills. Heidelberg Council President Sharon Wicobroda told the Post-Gazette, “We are at a loss without him. Bob’s dying is a real nightmare.”
Kipp was the Canonsburg manager from June 2013 through March 2016. He had also been manager in Reserve Township (2011 to 2013), regional manager for Remington, Vernick and Beach (2005-2011) and manager of the North Strabane Township Municipal Authority (1998-2005).
During his tenure in Canonsburg, he helped procure bargaining agreements with the police, public works, sanitary sewer and clerical departments, and he successfully entered a new agreement with Waste Management for garbage and recycling collection.
He also wrote grants for the borough and authored a new borough personnel manual. Kipp also had been the borough’s zoning officer.
Tax bills mailed
Canonsburg Borough Tax Collector Robert Maceiko reports that 2018 real estate tax bills were mailed by Feb.1. Those who may not have received the bill should contact Maceiko at 724-745-5310.
Canonsburg Hospital events
Through Canonsburg General Hospital’s Speaker Series, physicians and other health-care professionals will present free programs on a variety of health-related topics. For a copy of the Speaker Series brochure, call 724-873-5835.

Physician referral access line is 412-DOCTORS (362-8677) and is available between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Medivan service, operated by Canonsburg Ambulance, is available to residents who need transportation to Canonsburg General Hospital for testing or surgery. The service cannot accommodate patients in wheelchairs. Rides must be scheduled at least one day in advance. To schedule, call 724-745-6911.
Senior Center schedule
These are the regular activities schedule at the Canonsburg Senior Center, 30 E. Pike St.
Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. weekdays. A light option lunch is available every Tuesday. Call for reservations. Wii bowling is scheduled weekdays from 9 to 10 a.m.
The daily schedule includes:
Monday: Bible study 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday: Pinochle at noon; dartball 12:30 p.m.; TOPS 6 p.m.
Wednesday: Coloring 10 a.m.; bingo 12:30 p.m.
Thursday: 500 bid 12:30 p.m.
Friday: Health screenings 10 to 11 a.m.; pinochle at noon; dartball 12:30 p.m.; cards 7 p.m.

Snow removal regulations
The Canonsburg Code Enforcement/Zoning office reminds residents that they have 24 hours from the end of the snow event to clear sidewalks of snow and ice.
Those who fail to remove snow and ice from sidewalks may be subject to a fine of $300-$1,000 for failure to comply with IPMC Section 302.3. Additionally, it is a violation of Section 149-36 of the Canonsburg Code to deposit snow in the street, a sidewalk or around a fire hydrant. This violation carries a fine of up to $300 and/or 90 days imprisonment.

Park pavilion rentals available
Town Park pavilion rentals for the 2018 season are now available.
Rentals for the Main and Yoney pavilions are $125 plus a $75 refundable cleanup deposit.
Discounted swim passes, at $3 each, are available with pavilion rentals (regular swim passes are $6 each).
Both pavilions include refrigerators, large charcoal grills, sinks with running water, picnic tables, hoses, mops, brooms, trash barrels and trash bags. The pavilions each have two restrooms. No alcoholic beverages are permitted.
