Summer Quest

Summer Reading Camp with a new name! Join us as we explore the Quest for knowledge on subjects such as the Science of the Human Body, Kitchen Science and Music, it’s science, too! We will read stories, do experiments, crafts and play games all week during Summer Quest. Registration is available at the registration desk. Payment is due at registration. Cost is $5 per week. Summer Quest weeks are structured by age level: Kindergarten to third grade (students must have finished kindergarten) – July 10-13; July 31-Aug. 3. Fourth grade to seventh grade – June 26-29; July 17-20

Summer Writing Workshop

Register by June 25. This program is for incoming students in seventh-12th grade, who join other teen writers to explore the writing process in this four-week workshop. Workshop dates are July 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 6-7:30 p.m. This is a free workshop. Author and content marketing consultant Marshal Carper will cover a different part of the writing process each week. We require at least eight participants to hold this workshop and space is limited. Movie Magic

Filmography 101 – Ever have the ambition to make a film, but not sure where to start? This program will offer lessons and tips on the fundamentals of filming a movie! This will be a four-week program offered on the following Wednesdays: July 11, 18 and 25 and Aug. 1 from 6 to 7 p.m. The program is intended for teens and young adults and space is limited. Little Picasso’s Summer Edition

Children ages 2-5 years old along with their fun loving adult can join Miss Barb at the library to do a craft with messy things like glitter, glue, water, paints, etc. Dress appropriately to get messy! Young Explorer Kit Open House – Come check out one of our Young Explorer kits! We will be highlighting our Circuits and Coding kits. Explore the flow of electricity through wires, chips and robotics with kits designed for grades three and up. Saturday, July 7, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Armchair Tour of Clayton – The Frick Pittsburgh will bring an Armchair Tour of Clayton to the Frank Sarris Public Library. Clayton was the home of industrialist Henry Clay Frick. This program is free, however, registration is required. The deadline for registration is July 26. Please call the library main circulation desk at 724-745-1308 to sign up for this special event Thursday, July 27 at 6 p.m.

Young Explorer Kit Open House – Come check out one of our Young Explorer kits! We will be highlighting our Construction kits. Build and create with kits designed for toddlers through elementary school. Saturday, July 28 from 11a.m.-1 p.m.

Adult English – The Literacy Council of Southwestern PA is offering free Adult English as a Second Language Classes on Saturdays 1-4 p.m. For more information on how to enroll, please call the Literacy Council at 724-228-6188.
