The Greater Canonsburg Chamber of Commerce is a for-business, not-for-profit, non-partisan and non-sectarian organization comprised of businesses, professionals and individuals joined together to promote civic, commercial and industrial interests in the greater Canonsburg area. The Greater Canonsburg Chamber of Commerce was established in 1956 and encompasses the boroughs of Canonsburg and Houston, and the townships of Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant and North Strabane.

Its purpose is to encourage the development of a healthy business environment by advancing the interests of its members and advocating interaction among commercial, financial, industrial and civic groups to promote growth and economic stability. The chamber’s goal is to make the greater Canonsburg area a wonderful place to live, shop, work and play.

It is located at 68 E. Pike St., Suite 104, in the Borough Building.

Second Annual 5K Bunny Run and Family Fun Walk

The Greater Canonsburg Chamber of Commerce is hosting an inaugural 5K fundraiser, in partnership with sponsors Planet Fitness in Washington and Canonsburg Hospital. The race on April 27 will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Canonsburg Hospital, and will end at Sarris Candies.

“A 5K is one of the best ways for people to get involved and if they want to run, and to be able to do so at a shorter distance than a marathon,” said chamber board member and 5K committee member Beverly Sterling-Affinati of HarborSide Services Web Development. “Running can also help build strength, the shorter distance will help all of us become aware of running and the benefits to our body. We didn’t want to eliminate walking either, which is why we also made it a family fun walk.”

Prizes will be awarded to the top runners in each age group, as well as the top male and female runners – all runners will receive a T-shirt. Registration is $25 per person before March 25, and $30 after.

Vendor tables are also available for $25. Proceeds from the event will be used for the second annual Bunny Run and Family Fun Walk in 2020, as well as to help spotlight chamber members in the communities that the chamber serves.

“The event provides multiple benefits to the community, the most obvious being health and preventative diseases as a result of leading an active, healthy lifestyle; but also marketing and shopping opportunities of the businesses (in the areas we serve) who represent the Greater Canonsburg Chamber of Commerce,” Sterling-Affinati said.
