Little things make a big difference for kids’ snacks

Recently, I signed up to bring fresh fruit to my son Roman’s pre-school class and when I showed up with this tray full of snacks, I realized had signed up for the wrong date! Thankfully, Roman’s sweet pre-school teachers didn’t turn away a tray full of fresh fruit and said that his class really likes to eat. Why doesn’t that surprise me? The class ended up enjoying double the fruit for the day.

And I hope the kids enjoyed eating this Rainbow Fruit Tray as much as I enjoyed making it! It was easy to put together and is a smart choice, especially since fruit needs to be cut for little mouths anyway.

When serving kids fresh fruit or simply for snack duty at school, consider trying this one extra step. Putting fresh fruit in the shape of something, such as a spring flower or a rainbow, makes for a fun presentation for kids. Remember, it’s the little things for all of us that make a big difference. Roman was so excited to bring this fruit tray to his friends!

Here are a few fruit ideas for each color of the rainbow:

Red: Strawberries, raspberries, watermelon, cherries

Orange: Orange slices or segments, peaches, cantaloupe, papaya

Yellow: Pineapple, mango, bananas, golden kiwi

Green: Kiwi, honeydew, green grapes

Blue: Blueberries, blackberries, plum

Purple: Red grapes, plums

White: Little bowls of vanilla yogurt, bananas, marshmallows
