Ringgold teacher receives award

Eric J. Manko, an economics teacher at Ringgold High School, was awarded the Sophia Zacharias Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Economics from Economics Pennsylvania?.

Manko developed the advanced economics curriculum, and he and his students have participasted in the stock market game, business plan and other programs sponsored by Economics Pennsylvania.

Manko was honored Oct. 19 at the Omni William Penn Hotel at the Adam Smith Annual Banquet.

Manko, a 1998 Ringgold High School graduate, resides with his wife, Laura, in Jefferson Hills. He also is a 2003 graduate of Clarion University, specializing in secondary social studies, and a 2011 graduate of Duquesne University, earning a master’s degree in education and school administration.
