Monongahela Valley Hospital, in conjunction with AARP, will hold two 55 Alive/Mature Driver Safety Education programs designed to help people 50 years and older to improve their driving skills.
The two-day beginner’s driving course will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 18 and 19 in the Education Conference Center. A one-day refresher course will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17 in the Education Conference Center. Participants must complete the beginner’s class before they can take the refresher course.
There is no driving test involved, and all of the instruction is provided in a classroom setting. The beginner’s class covers the effects of aging and medication on driving, basic driving rules, license renewal, local traffic hazards, adverse road conditions, energy savings and accident prevention measures.
Cost is $12 per person for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. Advance registration is required by calling 724-258-1333. Some insurance companies also offer discounts for course completion.
