Little Lake Theatre Company will open its 65th season May 2, and in anticipation, the theater is reaching out to actors and artists of all ages.

An apprentice program information meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday for 14- to 19-year-olds interested in acting and technical theater.

In exchange for participation in behind-the-scenes work on prop and technical crews, ushering and other responsibilities, apprentices receive both workshop and hands-on training from local actors, directors and designers in all aspects of production work.

Many apprentices participate as actors in Mainstage, Looking Glass Theatre and Fall Family Matinee productions. Participation in the apprentice program also fulfills high school community service requirements.

In 2012, 32 students from Mt. Lebanon, Upper St. Clair, Bethel Park, Peters Township, Canonsburg, Chartiers-Houston and Washington participated in Little Lake’s May-to-December apprentice program. Many of them will discuss their experience at the meeting.

Parents are encouraged to attend the meeting with their teens. More information is available at www.littlelake.org.

In addition, Little Lake is seeking high school and college students to serve as artist/designers for the Looking Glass Theatre series of plays for young audiences, plus adult artists to guide the students. There are three plays on the summer schedule, as well as one Fall Family Matinee production: “Go, Dog. Go!” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “The Monster Under the Bed” and “Freckleface Strawberry.”

Volunteer and stipend positions are available. Those who are interested should contact Sunny Disney Fitchett at sunny@littlelake.org.

Auditions for Looking Glass Theatre will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. May 6. There are parts for adults, teens and children older than 8.

Singers for “Go, Dog. Go!” are asked to prepare 16 bars of a youthful, uptempo song. Visit Little Lake’s website, www.littlelake.org, for audition requirements and information.
