Four students from Washington and Greene counties were recognized by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for educating peers about the dangers of underage drinking in the 21st annual Alcohol Education Poster Contest. More than 600 students from 30 counties in Pennsylvania participated. Their entries were judged on presentation and message. The PLCB will use the student designs to create posters, bookmarks and coloring sheets to share with students throughout Pennsylvania. In addition, the grade winners will have their artwork reproduced in a calendar that will be distributed. Students who created the winning entries will receive cash prizes. Local students who were recognized are:

• Matthew Desrosiers, a sophomore at Waynesburg Central High School;

• Nathaniel Heim, a senior at Washington High School;

• Cyerrah Spangler, a freshman at Washington High School;

• Desmond Spinks, a sophomore at Washington High School.
