MVH program focuses on nutrition

Monongahela Valley Hospital will host the Nutrition Building Blocks program to aid the community’s understanding of good nutrition. The program will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 5, 12 and 19 at Mon-Vale HealthPLEX in Rostraver.

“The program will explore the basics of nutrition and help promote a healthy diet and a lifestyle,” said Michele Pfarr, RD, LDN, and clinical nutrition manager at Monongahela Valley Hospital.

The schedule is as follows: Sept. 5, calorie intake and exercise; Sept. 12, reading food labels and portion control, and Sept. 19, tips on eating in restaurants.

Clinical dietitian Julie Sulkowski, RD, LDN, will discuss the importance of a healthy diet and how to feed one’s body the correct way. Participants will learn to read and understand food labels as well as learning the importance of portion control.

The classes are free. Registration is required; call 724-258-1320.
