Northwest Savings Bank recently contributed a total of $11,500 to the Washington County Community Foundation for local education programs. A $6,500 gift was made to the ESO Fund, which provides need-based scholarships to students attending nonpublic schools in kindergarten through 12th grade through the Commonwealth’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. A $5,000 gift was made to the EOS Fund, which awards scholarships to financially needy students who reside within the boundary of a “low-achieving” school to attend a participating nonpublic school or a participating public school outside of the recipient’s school district of residence through Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development’s Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit program. This gift marks the Community Foundation’s first OSTC contribution. Since 2007, the bank has contributed more than $60,000 to the Community Foundation through the EITC and OSTC programs.
