Old Economy Village in Ambridge is seeking individuals interested in becoming volunteer tour guides at the National Historic Landmark.

Those who are interested are asked to attend one of the following training meetings: 10 a.m. Jan. 26 or 10 a.m. Jan. 30. The meetings will begin with an introduction to the site, including an orientation video, and a guided tour of the site.

Old Economy Village was built by the Harmonists, a German religious communal society, in 1824 and served as their third and final home, until the society was dissolved in 1905. The group was noted for its success in textile manufacturing, craftsmanship, agriculture and investments in coal, timber, oil and railroads. The site has 17 buildings furnished with thousands of objects purchased or made by the Harmony Society, as well as historic gardens.

To attend a meeting, contact davmiller@pa.gov or call 724-266-4500, ext. 110.
