Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will hold free star parties at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Mingo Creek County Park Observatory. The event will be held regardless of the weather. The schedule is as follows: sky show, 8 p.m.; presentation at 8:40; sky show, 9:20; and movie, “Impact Earth,” 10 p.m.
Managing Your Diabetes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 20-22 in the Education Conference Center at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Completion of the three-day “Diabetes Self-Management Training” is a prerequisite. Registration is required at least one week in advance; call 724-258-1483.
Bariatric Surgery information session will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at Mon-Vale HealthPLEX. Bariatric surgery is an option for people wanting to lose 100 pounds or more. Monongahela Valley Hospital has teamed up with Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC to provide the free information session designed to give those struggling with weight loss the facts to choose their best option.
