Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy were known as “America’s Singing Sweethearts” when they were teamed together by MGM in eight musical films in the 1930s and 1940s.

Although both stars died in the 1960s, they still have an active fan club called the MacEddy Club.

A local gathering of MacDonald-Eddy fans will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. May 19 at the home of retired Peters Township High School drama director and club member Barry N. Wood, 405 Linda Lane, Houston.

Sharon Rich of New York, the MacEddy Club’s president and author of the book “Sweethearts,” will lead the meeting. There will be a question-and-answer session, book signing and film and interview clips. Refreshments will be served.
