Jared Dunlap graduated magna cum laude from West Virginia University, where he majored in industrial and management systems engineering. He received the WVU Industrial Engineering Citizenship Award, was twice named to the president’s list and made the dean’s list five times. Dunlap was president of the Institute of Industrial Engineers student chapter and secretary of Alpha Pi Mu Honor Society. He is a 2009 graduate of McGuffey High School and is employed by Accenture. His parents are Jerry and Kelly Dunlap of Glen Dale, W.Va., and James and Tamara Hilliard of Washington.
Kara Houston graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University with a doctorate in physical therapy. Houston is a 2007 graduate of Trinity High School and is employed as an athletic trainer for Belair High School. She also is a soccer coach for an under-18 women’s traveling team in Wheeling, W.Va. Her parents are Mike and Nita Houston of Washington.
Christine James graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine with a doctor of osteopathic medicine. She will be completing her residency in pathology at West Virginia University. James is employed by WVU Health Sciences Center. Her parents are Ron and Debbie Richey of West Alexander, and she is a 2002 graduate of McGuffey High School.
Benjamin Jones was named to the dean’s list at Belmont University, Nashville, Tenn., where he is majoring in computer science/philosophy. He is a member of Phi Sigma Tau Philosophy National Honor Society. Jones graduated in 2012 from Canon-McMillan High School, and his parents are Kevin and Pamela Jones of Canonsburg.
Katherine Kline graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science degree in family consumer science education. Kline is a 2008 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School, and her parents are Bradley and Janette Kline of Rices Landing.
Mackenzie Kline, son of Bradley and Janette Kline of Rices Landing, graduated from West Virginia University College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor. He is a 2006 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.
Allison Phillips, a junior at California University of Pennsylvania, recently was recognized as a presidential scholar during the university’s 2013 Honors Convocation ceremony. Phillips is majoring in sports management and business administration, and has been on the dean’s list every semester. Her parents are Tracy and Jackie Kotchman of Washington and Robert S. Phillips of Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Liana Plants, daughter of Gaylord and Connie Plants of Washington, was named to the dean’s list for the fourth consecutive semester with a 4.0 grade-point average at Waynesburg University, where she is majoring in accounting with a minor in human resource/business management and real estate. She is a 2011 graduate of Trinity High School and is employed by John Sisson Nissan as a service coordinator.
Teddy Mathis III, son of Darlene and Theo Mathis Jr. of Canonsburg, graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in political science. He is a 2008 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School. Mathis recently passed the master’s degree entrance exam at Indiana, where he will pursue his master’s in criminal justice.
Abby Lynn Miles of Shadyside graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health with a master of health administration degree. She is a 2007 graduate of Fort Cherry High School and a 2011 graduate of Penn State University, Smeal College of Business, with a degree in business management. She has accepted a job as business analyst for the Jewish Association of Aging, Pittsburgh. Her parents are Ken and Jeanine Miles of Hickory.
Ashley Weaver graduated with honors from California University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in social work. She was on the dean’s list multiple semesters. Weaver is a 2009 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School and is employed by the Mental Health Association of Washington County. Her parents are William and Rhonda Weaver of Beallsville.
Katrina Zelenka of Washington graduated from Duquesne University with a master of science degree in nursing, family nurse practitioner. She is a 2007 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and a 2009 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She is a 2005 graduate of Trinity High School, and her parents are Anthony and Christia Zelenka of Martinsburg, W.Va. Zelenka is a registered nurse at Family Home Health Services in the Pittsburgh area.
