Rich and Jane Lucas of Hickory announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Wood, to Derek Zofchak, son of Larry and Lisa Zofchak of Muse.

Sara also is the daughter of the late Dale Wood Jr. Her grandparents are Frances Wood, the late Dale Wood Sr., the late George Lucas Sr., Nellie Bissett and the late Howard Bissett.

The future groom’s grandparents are Peter Zofchak, the late Mary Anne Zofchak, Elizabeth O’Hare and the late Donald O’Hare.

The bride-to-be is a 2007 graduate of Fort Cherry High School and a 2012 graduate of Robert Morris University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in education. She is pursuing a master’s degree in education at Robert Morris University and is a teacher at Fort Cherry Elementary School.

Her fiance is a 2007 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and is a 2011 graduate of Waynesburg University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in environmental science. He is an environmental technician at Range Resources.

The couple plan a Sept. 6, 2014, wedding.
