Carter – 90 years
Jim Carter of Claysville will celebrate his 90th birthday with family and friends at a luncheon.
He was born October 9, 1923, in Morris Township (Claysville).
On September 14, 1945, he married his wife, Mary.
He has four children, Deb (Tom) Chatlak of Canonsburg, Pamela (JR) Carter of Eighty Four and Mark Carter and Chris Carter, both of Claysville.
He has three grandchildren, Matt Chatlak, Nicole Scott and Zach Carter, and three great-grandsons.
Mr. Carter graduated from Morris Township High School in 1942. In his early career, he was a handwriting teacher for P.O. Peterson in Greensburg. After moving back to the area, he operated the East Finley Store for 17 years; was a salesman for Sprowls Hardware in Claysville; and owned and operated the Jim Carter Construction Co. Mr. Carter was a loyal 32nd degree Mason for 60 years and also served as a board member for Canonsburg Mutual Insurance for a number of years.
He resides at Lanewood Farm, a family-owned farm in Morris Township.
