Janice Trumpie of Bunola has had three strokes, two cardiac arrests and an allergic reaction to the drug Heparin that resulted in the amputation of both her legs.
But she will join company leaders, team captains, families, other survivors and volunteers in the Washington County/Mon Valley Heart Walk Oct. 5 at Consol Energy Park in Washington.
Trumpie, a former registered nurse with 20 percent heart function, continues to support the American Heart Association for a few very good reasons.
“My parents also have heart disease,” Trumpie said. “I would like my children to have a healthier future made possible by continued research and education with funds raised from events such as the Heart Walk.
“I try to take every day and live it to the fullest. You have to give back to get. Giving back is very rewarding.”
Teams and individual walkers are welcome to participate. Registration and sponsorship information are available by contacting Diana Cummings of the Washington County/Mon Valley division of the American Heart Association at www.heart.org/washingtonwalk or 412-208-3577.
