Jacob Davis and Maria Dovshek, eighth-graders at Bentworth Middle School, have been selected to receive American Legion awards. Davis is a son of Norman and Michelle Davis, and Dovshek is a daughter of Ron and Georgia Dovshek, all of Scenery Hill. The award is presented to an eighth-grade boy and girl who have personified the qualities of citizenship and leadership. Bentleyville Legion Post 165 will present the awards May 26.
Eighteen Peters Township High School German students recently were recognized with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards after taking the National German Exam. The test incorporates both text and audio portions and is taken by more than 22,000 students each year. Finishing in the 90th percentile or better and receiving a Gold Award were Steven Babyak, Ian Gautschi, Matt Gummersbach, Luke Karavolis, Max Lindsay, Logan Ondos and Connor Schwartz. Placing in the 80th to 89th percentile and receiving a Silver Award were Jon Dewitt, Laura Ehrenberger, Steven Lo, Hayden Roy, Varun Sharma and Laura Shope. Finishing in the 70th to 79th percentile and receiving a Bronze Award were Steven Hart, Sam Lindsay, Jacklyn Vollmer, Nathaniel Wang and Roy Wang.
