California University of Pennsylvania will host a SkyWarn training session at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Eberly Hall, room 110, to train volunteers who are interested in becoming severe weather spotters.

The SkyWarn training, organized by Cal U.’s Meteorology Club, will be led by a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

There is no cost for the training. Visitor parking is available in the Vulcan Garage, off Third Street.

SkyWarn volunteers provide the National Weather Service with timely reports of severe weather, primarily by identifying and describing local storms. The weather service uses the information to issue more timely and accurate warnings for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and flash floods.
