The Greater Washington County Food Bank, in partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, will continue its Produce to People program at the Washington County Fairgrounds in the new year.

Each month, Produce to People will provide fresh vegetables, fruits and other items, based on availability, to those who may be hungry or have limited resources.

The first distribution will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 6.

Participants do not need to bring any proof of income, documentation or identification to receive food, and registration is held at the distribution.

Households qualify if they earn income within 150 percent of the poverty level; receive Medicare, Social Security, unemployment or free or reduced price lunches; or have a temporary emergency condition, such as a fire or loss of power. Poverty-level guidelines are $17,505 for a household of one; $23,595, two; $29,685, three; and $35,775, four. Add $6,030 per year per additional person.

Participants are asked to bring bags, boxes or a rolling cart since they will be leaving with 35 to 45 pounds of food.

For more information, call the food bank at 724-229-8175.
