Mon Valley YMCA begins new fitness sessions

The Mon Valley YMCA is preparing to begin new sessions of group fitness in March and April. They include:

• Balanced body – 45 weekly classes, beginning March 3 for nine weeks. Classes include low-intensity classes for beginners and active adults, such as yoga, circuit and Walk Off the Pounds. Basic training, cycle, PUMP and total body training are available for a more intense workout.

• Zumba – eight weekly classes. Beginner level classes begin at 7:15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

• Water exercise – includes shallow water classes, such as arthritis, aqua fit, splash dance, aqua Zumba and splash, and deep-water classes, such as wet vest, aqua power and advanced wet vest. Classes are held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays and 11 a.m. Fridays, beginning March 10.

• Tai chi – classes are held at 11:45 a.m. Mondays and 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, beginning March 3.

• Boot Camp for Kids – classes begin March 3. Five- to 8-year-olds can register for 5:45 p.m. Mondays or Wednesdays; classes for 8- to 13-year-olds are held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

• Jump & Wiggle – classes help children gain coordination and socialization. Classes for 3- to 4-year-olds are held at 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays; classes for 5-year-olds are held at 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays.

• Kinder Gym – open to 3- to 5-year-olds. The six-week session will be held at noon Mondays, beginning March 24.

• Kinder Soccer – open to 3- to 5-year-olds. Classes are held at 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning March 25.

All classes are free for members.
