The Washington County Farm Bureau will begin its annual food drive on Feb. 1.

The food drive is a way to celebrate Food Check-Out Week, when the average American family has earned enough income to pay their food bill for the entire year. This year, Food Check-Out Week will be held Feb. 16 -22. It also promotes the safe and nutritious food that American farmers grow.

Collection boxes will be placed throughout Washington County, and all donations will be made to the Greater Washington County Food Bank for distribution through the food pantry closest to the donation box. Food should be in unopened packages and have a current sell-by date.

For more information about drop-off locations, call Don Carter at 724-350-2654.
