Brenton Bauer, a junior at Bethlehem-Center High School, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest level in Boy Scouts.

Bauer has been a Scout for 10 years and serves as junior assistant Scout leader of Boy Scout Troop 1515 in Centerville.

His Eagle Scout project, which was completed in 2013, was to expand the outdoor gardening program at the Residence At Hilltop personal care community in Carroll Township.

The project was implemented with the help of his troop members and included construction and installation of several cedar planter boxes designed for the residents to access around a patio, several wooden benches surrounding the property and a walking trail. The residence also received plants for its gardening program.

Bauer, son of Brian and Ann Marie Bauer of Fredericktown, also has participated in other programs at the Residence of Hilltop as part of his community service efforts.

In addition, he provides leadership for his troop and has been a member of the staff at Heritage Reservation Camp in Farmington, where he works during the summer. He has achieved Brotherhood status in his Order of the Arrow chapter of Boy Scouts of America, and has earned more than 30 merit badges, including those for drafting, wood carving, pioneering and wilderness survival.

Bauer will received his Eagle Scout award at a Court of Honor ceremony on Feb. 1 at Taylor Methodist Church in Brownsville.
