MHA to hold wine, jazz, pops festival

The Mental Health Association of Washington County will hold Wine, Jazz & Pops IV Aug. 2 and 3 at North Strabane Municipal Park.
Nine wineries from throughout Western Pennsylvania will participate, including J&D Cellars, the Winery at Wilcox, Greenhouse Winery, Christian Klay Winery, Courtyard Winery, Ripepi Winery and Vineyard, Thistlewaite Vineyards, Seven Mountain Wine Cellars and Reece Winery.
On Aug. 3, a wine-making contest will be held. Vintners are invited to enter two bottles of wine. The three catergories are Dry Red, Dry White and Sweet/Fruit. Entries will be judged by Greg Hazuza of Greenhouse Winery in Irwin and John and Angela Burgess of A&M Wine Supplies in Washington.
Applications are available online at mhawashco.org/wjp. Cost to enter is $20 and includes a free ticket to the festival. Prizes will be awarded to winners in each category.
The entertainment schedule is as follows:
Aug. 2
• 1 p.m. – Washington Jazz Orchestra;
• 2:30 p.m. – Carolyn Perteete;
• 4 p.m. – Salsamba;
• 5:30 p.m. – Opek.
Aug. 3
• 12:30 p.m. – Washington Symphony Orchestra;
• 3 p.m. – Marc Lucas;
• 4 p.m. – Carnegie Brass.
