A spaghetti dinner to benefit Shannon’s Hope will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at Julian’s Banquet Hall, 78 W. Maiden St., Washington.

Spaghetti dinners are being donated by Angelo’s Restaurant. There also will be a silent auction.

Money raised will help pay for the medical travel and living expenses for Shannon Anderson, 35, of Bethel Park, who will undergo pelvic nerve decompression surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, N.H., to alleviate the chronic pain she suffers from Pudendal Nerve Entrapment, also known as Alcock Canal Syndrome. The rare surgery is performed by just two doctors in the United States.

PNE is a condition in which the pudendal nerve in the pelvis becomes entrapped or compressed. Pain is positional and worsens with other symptoms, such as genital numbness, fecal and urinary incontinence or the inability to have bowel movements or pass urine. Patients need to spend hours daily sitting on the toilet or staying in bed to relieve the pain.
