Friends General Conference, an association of more than 600 Quaker congregations in the United States and Canada, will hold its annual Gathering of Friends Sunday through July 5 at California University of Pennsylvania.

Every summer, more than 1,200 Quakers gather to share a week of worship, music, activism and community. The week is filled with programs and events, from small group morning workshops to public evening plenaries, plus programs for children, teens and young adults.

The theme of this year’s gathering is “Let Love Be the First Motion,” a reference to the 18th-century abolitionist John Woolman.

Laura Magnani of the American Friends service committee will speak on July 4.
