Teen Outreach to hold awards ceremony

The Washington Hospital Teen Outreach 2014 award ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity High School auditorium.

The event recognizes individuals, community agencies and businesses that have provided extraordinary support in the past year to the Teen Outreach mission to young people. Senior Peer Educators are also recognized.

Peer Educator members from the Real Talk Performers will perform two original educational dramas. “Invisible” will be performed by the Washington School District Junior High Advisory Board. “The Real Love Story” will be performed by RTP players from McGuffey, Trinity and Washington High Schools. Washington’s Got Talent winner Nicole Klien also will perform.

The following will be honored:

• Business Award: Tim Warne (Bartram House Bakery) for outstanding support of the cupcake wars at Washington’s Got Talent.

• Community Award: Pat O’Brien for outstanding commitment to the health and wellness of our community.

• Educator Award: Suzanne Ashmore, teacher, Chartiers Houston High School, for longtime support for the outreach’s educational mission.

• Fellowship Award: Claysville United Presbyterian Church, for support of our mission; and Katey Brock, for consistent fellowship and respect for her peers.

• Inclusion Award: Fred and Karen Fleet of Highland Ridge Community Development Corp., for modeling respect toward all people.

• Pioneer Award: Mayor Brenda Davis, Dr. Tori Haring-Smith, Dr. Robert DiLorenzo and Pam Kilgore, for working to stop violence and connect our community.

• President’s Award: Sherrie MacKinney, for consistent support for educational efforts.

• School Administrator Award: Ken Patterson, principal, Washington Junior High School; and Carol Lee, assistant principal, Trinity High School; for ongoing support of Teen Outreach programming and dedication to young people.

• Service Award: Park Burroughs, John Campbell, Dick Feldstein, Tom Gladden, Susan and Bill Price and John Tecklenberg, for support of our Ambassador for Respect Youth Conference: Respect for Older Adults.

• Social Justice Award – Anne Lynch, Three Rivers Community Foundation, for consistent, stellar support for social justice.

• Sprit Award: Jeff Sigado, social worker, Brownsville Area School District, for outstanding support for young people.

• Youth Award: Margaret Poole, for outstanding achievement.

• Youth Advocate Award: Joyce Ellis, for her commitment to young people through her efforts to revitalize the LeMoyne Center.

• Volunteer Award: Sarah Smith, for her consistent and stellar willingness to volunteer for Teen Outreach.
