DAR contest winners

Junior American Citizen contest winners were sixth-graders at John F. Kennedy Catholic School. They are, first row, from left, Lexi Livingood and Abby Gales, who along with Macy Zrimsek (not pictured), also placed first in the state in Community Service, and Spencer Putnam, who won the Photo Essay contest on the local, state and national levels; and second row, Jonathan Moyer, Dylan Schuerholz and Matthias Hirst, whose banner entry in Art Expression also placed first in the state. National Pike Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, recently held its 2014 student recognition for Washington County students at First Baptist Church in Washington.
The National Pike Chapter has committees in American History, American History Essay, Good Citizenship and Junior American Citizens that annually honor students from Trinity Middle School and John F. Kennedy Catholic School. This year, students from the McGuffey School District were included.
The contest theme was “Honoring Our Heritage.”
