Beth Israel in Washington is among the synagogues featured in Julian H. Preisler’s new book, “The Synagogues of Central & Western Pennsylvania: A Visual Journey” (Fonthill Media LLC).
Most of the former synagogues in Washington County also are featured.
The book explores the history and architecture of synagogues in the central and western regions of Pennsylvania. It has 230 photographs and images of current, former and demolished synagogues in the state’s large cities as well as its industrial and mill towns.
