The NAACP Washington unit recently received the Anne M. Hines Allen Award at the NAACP state convention in Lancaster.

The award is given annually to units that work hard to pursue the mission of the NAACP in a manner that serves the needs of their communities, and is based on their civil rights activities regarding education, health, criminal justice, membership campaigns, political action, voter registration and other programs.

Delegates to the convention were David Gatling, Carla Ivery and Phyllis Waller.

The NAACP membership campaign will continue through December. For more information, call the NAACP office at 724-222-7820.
