Eight students from Peters Township High School have been named Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The students are Jonathan DeWitt, Matthew Graham, Sebastian Hymson, Kyle Marshall, Alessia Mihok, Joseph Ogburn, Maria Oldenburg and Meredith Rohn. They are among 34,000 of the highest scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT and will receive a Letters of Commendation in recognition of their academic promise. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some students become candidates for special scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
