Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 3905 Park Ave., Prosperity, will show the movie “God’s Not Dead” at 7 p.m. Wednesday in fellowship hall. The movie is free, and refreshments will be served. United Mine Workers Association Health and Retirement Funds and Lungs at Work will offer flu vaccines to all coal miners and their spouses from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Public Library, 52 Fourth St., McDonald; 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 14 at UMWA Local 1197 office, Ellsworth Borough Building; and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at UMWA Health & Retirement Funds office, 470 Johnson Road, Suite 20, Washington. Registration is not required. Bring your health insurance card. Washington Drug and Alcohol Commission Inc. is accepting applications for the 2014-15 Limited Term Single Service Prevention Grants, formerly known as minigrants. The board has approved 10 grants for $2,000 each. The grant must focus on one of the three priorities: driving under the influence, prescription drug misuse or marijuana use. Deadline to submit applications to the WDAC office is 4:30 p.m. Oct. 13. Visit www.wdacinc.org to review information about the grant and download the application.
Amwell Township Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Amwell Township Community Building. Brian Cunning will present a program on “George Washington’s Recollection of Braddock’s Expedition.”
WOMEN of Southwestern Pennsylvania will meet Oct. 16 at Valleybrook Country Club, 425 Hidden Valley Road, McMurray. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m., and dinner begins at 6:30. Dr. James Longo, an author and professor at Washington & Jefferson College, will talk from 7:30 to 8:30 about ghost stories he began collecting as a child after his first paranormal experience.
