Penn State Extension and the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health have launched a website, “Health Insurance and You,” which is designed to be a one-stop resource for information on the Health Insurance Marketplace, the benefits of health insurance, a county-by-county listing of “patient navigators” and other resources.
The website can be accessed at extension.psu.edu/health/insurance and provides extensive resources for Pennsylvania shoppers who want to do their homework before deciding which policy to buy, said consumer-issues specialist Cathy Bowen, professor of agricultural and extension education in Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences.
The next open enrollment period at healthcare.gov runs from Nov. 15 to Feb.15, with coverage beginning as early as Jan. 1.
In addition, webinars that will focus on the specifics of the Health Insurance Marketplace, enrollment and local resources for consumers interested in health insurance will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 31, Nov. 14 and Dec. 5.
To register for one of the webinars, visit http://extension.psu.edu/health-insurance-webinars. Once the registration form is completed and submitted, the registration link will be provided. A reminder will be sent a day before the webinar.
