Announcement is made of the engagement of Ashley Jacobson of Washington and Joseph J. Bratek, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio.

Ashley’s parents are Annette and Gerald F. Jacobson Jr. of Washington. Her grandparents are Diana and Gerald F. Jacobson Sr. and the late Ann and Robert DeCarlo.

Her fiance’s parents are Yvonne and Joseph E. Bratek of Campbell, Ohio. His grandparents are the late Mildred and Theodore Metzka and the late Virginia and Joseph W. Bratek.

The future bride is a 2003 graduate of Trinity High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in international business and economics. She is director of ocean & air operations for Westar International Forwarders in Carnegie.

The future groom is a 2003 graduate of Ursuline High School in Youngstown and a 2007 graduate of Youngstown State University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in history. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army from 2007 to 2012 and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2009 to 2010. He is a buyer for Caterpillar Global Mining in Houston.

The couple plan an August 22, 2015, wedding.
