Community Action Southwest’s Early Childhood Services programs have been chosen for Barnes & Noble at South Hills Village’s annual Holiday Book Drive.
Partnering for the first time this year with CAS, Barnes & Noble will donate books, toys and games to children enrolled in the Head Start Programs.
The store will host a kick-off event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to help raise awareness of the agency’s initiatives and goals. Partial proceeds from those who attend will go directly to the Early Head Start & Head Start programs. This also will be the first time that customers can purchase a donated item for the program.
In the past two years, the South Hills Village location has collected more than 5,000 items for children transitioning from hospital to home. This year, the store hopes to increase the donations by 25 percent. Customers can donate through Dec. 31.
