Brownsville Area Revitalization Corp. will hold its seventh annual Ducky Race Sept. 12 on the Monongahela River at Brownsville Riverside Wharf Park.
BARC has 1,000 numbered tickets available. Each numbered ticket is $5, which will register a plastic duck with the corresponding number on the bottom of it. Each duck sold will be placed in a barrel.
At 4:15 p.m., the ducks will be dumped into the river from the intercounty bridge. Those with the numbers on the first five ducks that arrive at the wharf will be awarded the following prizes:
• First place – overnight with breakfast and dinner at Nemacolin Woodlands, plus a $50 gift card.
• Second place – overnight at the Cottages at Fayette Springs with a bottle of wine.
• Third place – A hayride tour of the Christian Klay Winery, including a wine-tasting party for 10 at the winery.
• Fourth place – $100 gift card for Walmart.
• Fifth place – Gift cards packet.
Additionally, businesses are asked to adopt a large corporate duck that will be dressed in a neckerchief and decorative hat to distinguish which business has sponsored the duck. Spectators can take chances on the corporate ducks. The winning corporate duck wins half the value of the tickets purchased for that duck to win.
All proceeds will be used to renovate historic properties owned by BARC.
