Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is accepting applications for the Master Gardener Program.

During two semesters of classes, participants will learn the answer to every gardener’s questions, from “Why are my pine trees losing their needles?” to “When and how do I plant flower bulbs?” Master Gardeners will share their knowledge and experience as volunteers at Phipps.

Classes will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays, March 8 through May 10, plus one Saturday morning per month, and Thursdays, Sept. 8 through Oct. 27, plus one Saturday morning per month, at Phipps Garden Center in Mellon Park, with volunteer events throughout the year.

Course fee is $230, and includes the cost of a textbook. Deadline to submit applications is Jan. 7. To request an application, call 412-442-4442, ext. 3925, email edu@phipps.conservatory.org or visit phipps.conservatory.org/volunteer.
