According to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, licensed food establishments must employ one supervisory employee who has successfully completed a food safety training class. Completing the training and passing the exam brings licensed food establishments into compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Food Employee Certification Act.

To help food establishments meet the requirement, Penn State Extension will hold a food safety training course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 14 and 21 at the Washington County Penn State Extension office. The examination will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 21.

Course fee is $185 per person and includes the course book, instructional materials and refreshment breaks.

For more information, or for a brochure, call the Penn State Extension office in Westmoreland County at 724-837-1402.

Advance registration is required. To register, log on to extension.psu.edu/food-safety/events or call the extension office.
