Community Action Southwest will offer free, basic, online income tax filing assistance to working households in Washington and Greene counties that made less than $50,000 in 2014.

VITA sites will be open Wednesdays, Jan. 28 through April 8, in both counties. Appointments are available from 1 to 8 p.m. in Washington and 3 to 8 p.m. in Waynesburg. Appointments are required at both locations.

To determine if a taxpayer qualifies for the program or to make an appointment, call 2-1-1. Representatives are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Taxpayers must bring the following documentation to their appointments: valid photo identification, a Social Security card for every person on the tax return and all 2014 income documents. Those who would like their refund directly deposited into a bank account should bring their account information, including their routing and account numbers.

The program will provide assistance only to households with employment income. Households that rely solely on Social Security and/or retirement pensions can be served through AARP or Tax Counseling for the Elderly.
