Announcement is made of the engagement of Melanie Aiken of Washington and Matthew Staniszewski of New Castle.

Melanie’s parents are Chris and Peggy Aiken of Canonsburg. Her grandparents are Regis and Angeline Studeny and Robert and Dolores Aiken.

Matthew’s parents are David Staniszewski and Helene McQuillan, both of Washington. His grandparents are the late Walter and Helen Staniszewski and the late Russell and Helen Buntz.

The bride-to-be is a 1994 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1995 graduate of Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. She is one of the owners and a stylist at Knots and Tangles Salon.

The future groom is a 1995 graduate of Washington High School and a 2000 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania. He is director of community and economic development for the city of New Castle.

A 2016 wedding is planned.
