A representative from the University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center will offer free business consulting services from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Southpointe office of Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-46th District. The free event will help individuals who are interested in opening a small business, as well as current small business owners who would like to learn more about maintaining and grow their company.

Community flea market will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Burgettstown Senior Citizens Center, 200 Senior Way. Vendors selling flea market and craft items can rent a table for $10 or an indoor or outdoor space, weather permitting. There also will be a bake sale, Chinese auction, food and refreshments. Cross Creek County Park will hold a Minature Marvels of Water program at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The group will meet at Shelter 3. Beth Kahkonen of the Washington County Watershed Alliance and the Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will lead an aquatic scavenger hunt. Plankton nets and microscopes will be used to collect and observe plants and animals from Cross Creek Lake that can’t be seen with the naked eye. Shoes are required, and a change of clothes is recommended. Reservations are required by calling 724-228-6867. There program is free.

Pennsylvania Career Link will host a program on Pennsylvania’s new-hire reporting requirements from 1:30 to 3 p.m. July 23 at 90 W. Chestnut St., Suite 160-UL, Washington. Program details, benefits, compliance requirements, filing options and customer service features will be presented by the Department of Labor and Industry Workforce Information and Analysis. The program is free, and light refreshments will be served. To register, call 724-470-2116.

Lakeview Christian Life Church, One Lakeview Place, Bridgeville, will hold its 35th annual food fair from 3 to 8 p.m. July 25. Ethnic foods from Brazil, Thailand, Greece and Italy will be featured in addition to rib barbecue, a big dipper stand and a dessert booth. There also will be a fun fair for the children. Admission is $2 per person or $5 per family. Children younger than 5 years old are free. Proceeds benefit Lakeview Christian Academy, a ministry of Lakeview Christian Life Church.
