First Christian Church, 615 E. Beau St., Washington, hosts Samaritan’s Closet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays in fellowship hall. Gently worn clothing for men, women and children are available at affordable prices.
First United Methodist Church of Houston, 213 E. Pike St., Houston, will hold a basement sale from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Calvary Baptist Church, 1701 Ridgewood Drive, Washington, will hold its annual free family fun fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event will be held rain or shine. There will be music by the Ambassadors, games, food and prizes. Free parking onsite.
St. Ann’s Church, 967 Grant St., Bulger, will hold a church picnic from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday on the church grounds. Food and drink will be available. The Light Touch will provide music.
Fairall United Methodist Church, 583 White Barn Road, Waynesburg, will hold its annual festival at 5 p.m. Saturday. The menu will include chicken sandwiches, ham barbeque, hot sausage, hot dogs, homemade noodles, baked beans, an assortment of salads, fruit cup, pie, cake and beverage. Carryout is available. Garden Tour will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Washington County Fairgrounds. Master gardeners will lead the tour, provide information on gardening techniques and answer gardening questions. The group will meet at the blue shed in the parking lot. Wear walking shoes.
Mingo Creek County Park will hold a night hike July 31, during the second full moon in July. Hikers will meet at 9 p.m. at Shelter 10. This is a moderate hike. Appropriate dress and footwear are suggested. The hike will end at the Mingo Creek Observatory. There is no fee. Wheeling Civic Garden Center will hold its annual Style Show and Luncheon, “Revving Up the Runway,” Aug. 14. Doors open at 11 a.m. Fashions will be provided by Anna-Kay’s Unique Fashions of Steubenville, Ohio. Cost is $14 and includes lunch. Tickets can be purchased at the garden center or by sending a check to: Wheeling Civic Garden Club, Oglebay Park, Wheeling, WV 26003. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
