McGuffey Highlanders Football Kick-Off Country Concert featuring Brynn Marie, the Rusty Haywackers and Jackson Gardner, will be held Saturday at the West Alexander Fairgrounds. Gates open at 3 p.m., and the concert begins at 5. Tickets are available at the McGuffey High School office, from Julie Graham at the RE/MAX office at Washington Crown Center and from Leslie Alexas at Shorty’s Lunch, 34 W. Chestnut St., Washington. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Wounded Warriors.
Taylor United Methodist Church, 610 Old National Pike, Brownsville, will hold its annual rummage sale Aug. 6-8. Doors open at 9 a.m. and will close at 4 p.m. Clothing, various household items, toys and furniture will be for sale. The kitchen will serve sandwiches, chicken and french fries, homemade soup, cabbage and noodles, baked goods, coffee and cold drinks. Takeout will be available. Proceeds benefit the church.
Mt. Pleasant Glass and Ethnic Festival committee will hold its annual fundraiser, “Mt. Pleasant Cruise Night,” Aug. 21 at Frick Park, Mt. Pleasant. Gates open to drivers at 6 p.m., with admission by donation. Dash plaques will be distributed to the first 200 drivers. Gates will open at 7 for the public. Donation is $2. Children younger than 12 are free. There will be a DJ, food and beverages, a 50/50 drawing and prizes. Those who enter the 50/50 drawing must be present to win. Rain date is Aug. 28.
