Spring story time for children of all ages begins Tuesday. Register in the Children’s Department.

A session for high school students to learn to be successful with college applications and receive help completing a Penn State application will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. A representative from Penn State will be available to answer questions about applications. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free, but registration is required by calling the library.

Free computer classes will be held from 11 a.m. to noon as follows:

• Beginning Computing – Thursdays;

• How to Browse the Internet – March 12

• Creating an Email Address/Social Networks – March 19.

Seating is limited. Call the library to register.

Guitar workshops will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and March 21. Call the library to register for either class. Classes are free.

Bowlby Public Library Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. March 9. New members are welcome. Call the library for more information.

After Hours Saint Seuss party will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. March 13. This a combined St. Patrick’s Day and Dr. Seuss event, so wear green clothing and be prepared to eat green food. St. Patrick’s Day games and a special edition of Dr. Seuss Jeopardy also will be played. Call the library to register.

Kaplan Combo Test to help high school students determine which college entrance exam suits their needs will be administered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 21. The test is free. The practice test enables students to experience each section of the SAT and ACT. High school students can register online at www.evakbowlby.org or by calling the library.

Board of trustees will meet at 6:30 p.m. March 23.

Movie Night will begin at 6 p.m. March 25. Disney’s “Big Hero 6” will be showing in the conference room. Seating is limited, and reservations are required by calling the library.

National Poetry Month will be celebrated in April, so the library is holding a poetry competition. Greene County residents are invited to submit poems to the library in March. The competition will be broken into the following categories: kindergarten through second grade; third through fifth grade; sixth through eighth grade; ninth through 12th grade; and adults. All entries must be submitted by April 1. First-place prizes will be awarded in each age category. Winners will be announced April 16 during the library’s Poetry Reading and Award Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Winners and participants will be invited to read their original work, and light refreshments will be served.

State and federal tax forms are available at the library. The forms displayed will be determined by the supply from the federal and state governments. The IRS will provide listings for tax help lines if more assistance is needed. Library staff is not trained to offer tax advice.

Yoga classes are will be held at 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. Nadya Krol will teach the Iyengar method of yoga, which focuses on proper alignment and form to insure the appropriate effects for the nervous system and improve the health of the organs. Cost is $15 per class. Bring a yoga mat.

Noontime Lunch with Friends will be held March 10. Margo Wilson, author of “The Main Ingredient,” will speak. Lunch is available after the program for $5.

Teen Tech Week will be celebrated at 5 p.m. March 10. Teens can make stop animation movies with Playdoh, play whack-a-mole with potatoes, work with robots and circuits and learn about more tech available at the library.

Fandom Free (For All) will be held at 4 p.m. March 11. Participants discuss their favorite fandoms, cosplaying and OTPs and discover new pop culture obsessions. Tardis parking is available.

Author Pat DiCesare will speak from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the public meeting room. DiCesare, who spent 50 years as a concert promoter for many major rock and pop acts, is the author of “Hard Days Hard Nights.” Refreshments will be available. Chess Club meets at 10 a.m. Saturdays through March 14. All ages and all levels of play are welcome. Instructors are available.

Annual Chess Tournament will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 21. There are three divisions: junior for first- through fourth-graders; intermediate, fifth- through eighth-graders; and senior, ninth- through 12th-graders. First- and second-place trophies will be awarded in each division. The tournament is divided into five rounds, with all of the entrants playing in all rounds. Registration deadline is 8 p.m. March 19. A copy of the Chess Tournament Guidelines is available at registration in the Children’s Department.

Family Story Night will begin at 6:30 p.m. March 16. Wear something green or orange. There will be stories, crafts and snacks. Registration deadline is March 13.

Popcorn Lovers Day will be held March 12. Stop by the Children’s Department and enter your name in a one-day drawing for a bag of specialty flavored popcorn from Popcorn Willy’s.

Meet the Authors, Lillie Leonardi and Beth Caldwell, will be held at 6 p.m. March 18. During her work at the crash site of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Leonardi is forced to confront her connection to the divine-something she has struggled with since her youth. Her personal account of the 12 days she spent as an FBI liaison between law enforcement and social service agencies combines factual and logistical with the angelic and mystical. Caldwell wrote a resource book in which she shares practical strategies that are appropriate for leadership situations in work and life.

Groundbreaking Reads Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. March 19. The book to be discussed will be announced.

Tween Book Club for sixth- through eighth-graders will meet at 4:30 p.m. March 19. Read a book of your choosing and be prepared to discuss it.

Jean Kanouff: Fashions Through the Years will be held at 1 p.m. March 21. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the library. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Video Game Club for sixth- through eighth-graders will meet at 3:30 p.m. March 27. Play tournaments against others and get a chance to try out the newest video games.

CitiBooks, a used books bookstore in the lower level of the library, is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. All proceeds benefit the library.

Book of the month is “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins.

Citizens Teen Council is seeking members. Those who are interested should contact Jess at 724-222-2400, ext. 260, or teencitizens@gmail.com. Teen Council meets at 5 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month to help with events, suggest materials, volunteer and make the library more teen friendly.

College Bound Series, an application course conducted by a Penn State representative, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. March 21. Students will be able to complete a free PSU application. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops. The course is free.

Thirty One Bingo will be held at 3 p.m. March 14. Cost is $10 to play five games and a chance to win a Thirty One shopping spree. Those who purchase Girl Scout cookies from a local troop will receive an extra raffle ticket.

Peeps at the Library, Part 1 is under way. Use marshmallow Peeps and a shoebox to create a diorama depicting a scene from a book and deliver it to the library by March 14 to be included in the contest.
