The Washington County Historical Society and Bassettown Paranormal Society will host Ghastly Tales of Gallows Hill and the LeMoyne Crematory from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with tours starting every 20 minutes. Cost is $5 per person. There will be stories about hangings on the gallows hill, and the ashes of the first person cremated will be returned to the crematory. The Washington Corps of the Salvation Army, 60 E. Maiden St., will hold its monthly rummage sale Tuesday. Doors will open at 9 a.m., with the bag sale beginning at noon.
Women’s Business Network, Washington Chapter, will hold a recruiting event from 8:45 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn, Meadow Lands. The event will include breakfast and refreshments. Membership is category exclusive, so once a business category is filled by a qualified applicant, that chapter category is closed. Reservations are required by calling Tracy Eisenman at 724-263-0304.
Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church, South Buffalo Road, Hopewell Township, will hold its free community lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. There will also be a craft and bake sale.
Paris Presbyterian Church, 127 Steubenville Pike, Burgettstown, will hold a wellness lunch and talk at noon Oct. 15 at The Gathering Place Coffee Shop. Shelia DeCaria, a nurse from Weirton Medical Center, will discus how keep the brain sharp. The event is free and a light lunch will be served. Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church, 45 Church Road, Eighty Four, will hold a fall ham and turkey dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and under. Takeout orders will be available. Proceeds will benefit the Capital Improvement Fund.
Alicia Hruby replenishment blood drive and bone marrow screening will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at St. Francis of Assisi, Finley Hall, 3609 Washington Ave., Finleyville. Hruby is a 16-year-old liver transplant survivor from Monongahela who received her life-saving organ March 6. The blood drive goal is 121 good units. The number 121 represents 120 days of waiting for a donor and the 121st day that Hruby received an organ donation from the family of a 9-year-old boy. The Hruby family will be at the drive to personally thank everyone.
